The latest beta of the new release of Lotus Symphony (version 3, based on OpenOffice 3 code) was released this week - it features a huge number of improvements, not least a big increase in speed.  

Alongside the new beta, IBM has also issued a new Plug-in, the LotusLive Connector:

Lotuslive connector is one of those products that are useful and useless at the same time: you cannot say there is no stuff to connect to Lotuslive, but you cannot say there is something to solve your problems either. Lotuslive is very expensive to use because it's time consuming: right now, there is no other way to upload, handle the rights, download and properly share your documents other than opening your browser. And since Lotus Notes does not consume many resources, opening your browser in vista while in Notes is a joy! I tried this with symphony and the Openoffice with its connector, and I can frankly tell you: there is nothing - yet- other than your browser to connect to Lotuslive. BTW, when uploading files, the list you see in the screenshot does not even refreshes.
